In 2012, Colorado made history as one of the first U.S. states to legalize recreational marijuana. Because the City and County of Denver had previously automated alcohol licensing in 2009, it was easy to extend its solution for marijuana licensing.
Today, the process for requesting and obtaining substance licenses in Colorado is swift and efficient, and is considered the model for other regulatory entities to follow.
